Patriotic Chocolate Covered Strawberries
ant something sweet that screams summer celebration without turning on your oven? These are it. These patriotic treats have only three ingredients and are ready in under 30 minutes. Plus, kids love helping dip and sprinkle, so it’s a fun activity if you need to keep little hands busy before the fireworks start.
Pick berries that are firm, ripe, and completely dry before dipping. Look for strawberries with bright red color and fresh green leaves still attached – these make for the prettiest presentation and will hold up better when coated. Medium to large strawberries work best since they’re easier to dip and handle, plus they give you a nice ratio of chocolate to fruit.

Wash the strawberries thoroughly under cool running water and pat them completely dry with paper towels—this is crucial because any moisture will prevent the chocolate from adhering properly. While the strawberries dry, line a baking tray with parchment paper or wax paper to catch any drips.
Step 2: Melt The Candy Coating
Place the white candy melts and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each interval, until completely smooth and pourable—this usually takes 1-2 minutes total. The coconut oil helps thin the chocolate slightly for easier dipping without affecting the flavor. Avoid overheating, as this can cause the chocolate to become grainy or too thick.
Step 3: Dip & Decorate The Strawberries
Working quickly while the chocolate is still warm, hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it two-thirds of the way into the melted chocolate, gently twisting to coat evenly. Immediately dip the chocolate-coated portion into the sprinkles bowl, pressing gently so the sprinkles adhere before the chocolate sets. It helps to work in batches of 4-6 strawberries at a time so the chocolate stays at the right consistency for dipping. Place each decorated strawberry on the prepared tray as you finish it.
Step 4: Set & Serve
Transfer the tray to the refrigerator and chill for 30 minutes until the chocolate is completely hardened, or allow them to sit at room temperature for about 30-45 minutes if you prefer. Once set, the strawberries are ready to serve and can be enjoyed immediately or stored in the refrigerator for up to two days.
